More Joy. Guaranteed!

Finest City Improv was founded in 2011 as a way to entertain, inspire and bring joy and laughter to the community of San Diego. From performers, to students, to loyal fans, and first time visitors, we promise a playful and return-worthy experience with our commitment to sharing, teaching and connecting people with laughter.

Performances are weekly in our theater in the Hillcrest area of San Diego. Classes are available for all levels of improv students and instructed by an experienced teaching staff. Our corporate workshops help teams of all sizes collaborate more creatively and effectively, resulting in a more engaged workforce and a better bottom line.

Mason Lupica - Director of Operations

Mason handles the business, outreach, and and backend logistics so that our theater and community can do what they love

I started coming to the theater as an audience member and quickly immersed myself in the community. Now, I handle the administrative and logistical side of the theater to ensure everything runs smoothly for our team and community. My focus is split between the fun day-to-day stuff, like building corporate and community partnerships, managing our staff, overseeing student operations, and running our nightly house operations (including keeping fun drinks at the bar!) and the necessary business details like finances and maintenance. Ultimately, I'm here to handle the logistics, so our students and performers, and community are supported and happy.

In my free time, I’m a big fan of hands-on crafting projects, adventuring with my dog, and saving up for my paragliding license.
I pour my heart into this because FCI is truly one-of-a-kind. It’s an environment overflowing with warmth, love, and endless encouragement where everyone fits right in. I found my home here, and I’m just glad to help foster and grow the space where all that laughter and connection happens. See you at the theater, come say hi!

  • What are your other hobbies? How much time do you have? Martial arts, drawing, freestyle rap, cooking, dumpling making, and picking up other random hobbies.
  • If you weren't doing improv, where would you be? Probably trying to be a stuntman in his 30s.
  • What is your favorite improv scene you've been in? In our Jackie Chan show, Joel and I did a fight scene in a Hometown Buffet. So we used different side dishes to fight each other.
  • Who is your comedy idol? Conan O’Brien! Great host, comedian, and interviewer. Always brings joy with him.
  • 10 words or less of what improv means to you? Connecting, creating, and collaborating with another person.
  • Where will you be in 10 years? Great question. Hopefully still making dumplings & freestyle rapping.
  • Anything else we should know? I want to take a photo with your dog.
