Immerse Yourself in FCI’s Improv for Sketch Program!

Finest City Improv is proud to offer its most robust and performance worthy sketch class yet!

Starting in January, students can have the opportunity to learn “sketch-prov”, the process of improvising scenes to create sketches and combine them into a comedy revue as an ensemble using limited or no props and costumes. You’ll learn to craft various comedic scenes on your feet, such as political and social satire, silent scenes, scenes that showcase actors’ talents (now it’s time to get out that accordion you know how to play!), running blackouts, musical scenes, and many more styles.

As a member of this class you will be both creating the sketches and performing in them.  You will learn how theaters such as The Second City use improv as a fun and agile way to develop comedy revues that address current social and political topics of the day.  This is a fast-paced method that allows for on-your-feet refinement and updates to the show as new issues develop in our world!  Writing is limited to beat sheets and students will be putting their improv training to use at all times. This is the same method that we used to create our past hit shows Some Magnificent Thing, Alternative Facts of Life, and Netflix and Kill.

We have brought on board superstar sketch teachers Amy Lisewski, Julius Ravelo, and John Boaz for a 14 week fully immersive sketch class.

Major benefits:

This class will have TONS of performances. We are talking 6 — that’s double than what we normally offered in the past! Plus, at the end of the term, we plan for this group to become a regularly performing sketch team with a featured show run coached by Kevin Langdon!

Who is this for:

Anyone who has completed at least Level 3 or higher improv class and wants to train with these amazing teachers, or those who want to rework the basics (taken sketch before? We are extending a one time repeat discount of 35% to join!)
